Letting go in a world of outrage
We're living in a climate filled with outrage, anger, hate and frustration. Everywhere we look, particularly on the internet, people want to pick a fight about something. Rather than wanting to engage in sensible and reasoned debate, all people want to do is prove how much their opinion is right and why you should agree with them. I want no part of this anymore. I'm tired of rage and frustration (including within myself). You can't fight sexism with more sexism or racism with more racism. We need to move towards acceptance, tolerance, humility and kindness. A few small steps can go a thousand miles. We need to get rid of our petty differences and work in tandem with one another to make this world less shit. We need to breathe and remember our humanity and remember that we make up a tiny fraction of an enormous universe and that billions of humans have come before us. White, black, straight, gay, female, male, religious, non-religious, left wing, right wing, centrist - WE'RE NOT THAT DIFFERENT. We have the same type of genetic coding and we're all going to the same place in the end. Life is a circle.
Life is a circle that has no beginning nor end. It simply goes around. Everything in the universe is made up of energy including humans, and as energy can neither be created nor destroyed, we never really die - we become something else, even if it is simply residual energy. The only way to become spiritually content and satisfied is to accept things we can't change, forgive others and ourselves, and let go of the things weighing us down. I hope this video will help someone out there as I pass this message on as part of my spiritual journey into recovery. I wouldn't be where I am in my life and in this video without my AA program and cannot explain my gratitude towards it. White Privilege is Nonsense
White privilege is a silly and reductionist concept that has no real basis in logic. It's more of an excuse for people to play the victim and blame someone external for their problems rather than look inside themselves. It ignores the choices people make in their lives, but also the choices they *don't* make and are not responsible for. We don't choose what wealth bracket, class, country, gender, sexuality or ethnic group to be born into. But how you choose to work with the cards you've been dealt is down to you. What happened to judging people based on the content of their character not the colour of their skin? By claiming white people are automatically 'privilege', you're judging them based on skin colour, and also claiming that all non-white people are automatically 'lesser privileged.' * I also forgot to mention, modern-day slavery has been occuring heavily in Libya, since 2011 (backed by the USA): https://eu.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2017/11/27/clinton-ponders-2020-run-lets-not-forget-her-real-libya-scandal-glenn-reynolds-column/895853001/ UK stats ethnic groups income: https://www.ethnicity-facts-figures.service.gov.uk/work-pay-and-benefits/pay-and-income/household-income/latest Some relevant blog posts I have written addressing this: https://www.thezarinamachablog.co.uk/2017/12/what-is-privilege.html https://www.thezarinamachablog.co.uk/2018/10/white-leftist-pussies.html https://www.thezarinamachablog.co.uk/2020/07/pocahontas-movie-needed-for-our-times.html Website: https://www.zarinamacha.co.uk Blog: http://www.thezarinamachablog.co.uk Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/zarinamacha Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/zarinamacha My book 'Every Last Psycho': http://books2read.com/b/everylastpsychonovellas
Young people know nothing?
Sometimes I find that when older people explain things to younger people, they can be patronizing and assume that young people 'know nothing' and 'haven't experienced life.' However, a person can only live by what they have experienced, and being young doesn't invalidate your experiences. None of us know what a person has been through, whether they are 15 or 45. Beyoncé is overrated?!
Beyoncé is a talented woman, and while I do enjoy her music, I find it cringey and invalid when people describe her as a 'perfect' goddess or a 'queen.' No one is perfect and no one is above scrutiny. Beyoncé is a beautiful woman with a good voice who can put on an entertaining show, but she is by no means a phenomenal singer or a flawless untouchable goddess. She is a simply an idealized woman whose musical prowess is vastly overstated. Last year I wrote a song about the white walkers from Game of Thrones. Yep, you read that right. Is also a metaphor for anti-immigration/xenophobic attitudes.
